Presentation Title: Environmental sustainability of rigid metal packaging
Rigid metal packaging covers several product categories from food to non-food, beverage, aerosol, general line, closures and specialities. This presentation provides an overview of the environmental sustainability of rigid metal packaging thanks to the endlessly reciclability of metals which make them fitting in the Circular Economy approach. From an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) perspective, results of the metal packaging carbon and environental footprints are provided as well as significant carbon emissions reduction along the period 2006-2016 for the beverage category. Finally, other initiatives that MPE is carrying in terms of sustainability are presented as well as example of EPR schemes based on environmental performance of metal packaging.
