Guido Aufdemkamp is Executive Director of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE). He is an economist by education and has been working for German and European associations for flexible packaging as well as aluminium foil and closures since 2003. His key competences are market analysis, communications and sustainability. Together with his colleagues he represents the European flexible packaging industry at European level and on international stage. Overall, FPE deals with a wide range of issues relevant to the flexible packaging industry, most notably food contact, sustainability and environmental issues. The association comprises all major European producers of flexible packaging.

Various global consumer trends influence the FMCG and therefore packaging markets in general. Many of those provide a lot of opportunities for flexible packaging with its multiple advantages such as lightweight, cost effectiveness and convenience. The positive market developments worldwide but also in Europe were proof of this. However, the recent increase of environmental awareness is causing a lot of discussions. The benefits of flexible packaging with its minimized material use and overall resource efficiency along the value chain provide prospects in the future.
