Joost Verploeg

Mr. Joost Verploeg is the Managing Director for LyondellBasell’s Turkish, African, Middle East and Indian polymer Business since 2018. Operating out of Dubai with offices in Istanbul, Cairo, Dubai and Mumbai. He joined LyondellBasell in 2004 and prior to this role, held several positions in Sales & Marketing of gasoline blend components, Biofuels, Ethylene Cracker Feed Stock Procurement, Utilities, Refining and Supply Chain.  He has master in Mechanical Engineering from Technical University of Delft and MBA from Rotterdam School of Management.

Presentation Title: Advancing Sustainable Packaging Solutions

He will give short introduction on the benefits of plastics and their role in a sustainable society and overview of current drivers to sustainability – regulation in EU, US, Turkey, etc, demands from brand owners and ever increasing awareness of the general public. He will state position and actions taken by LyondellBasell – Alliance to End Plastic Waste, Mechanical Recycling through QCP, Chemical Recycling research and Bio Plastics and different packaging solutions and products resulting out of these initiatives,and future developments and path forward for the industry.
