Dr. Whiteside has extensive expertise retort pouch processing technology, food packaging and thermal processing. He consults with numerous food companies on thermal processing, retort pouch processing, food spoilage, and shelf life. Dr. Whiteside launched the Cryovac® Flavour Mark™ Retort Laboratory, focused on the application and development of new retort pouch technology. He is a recognized FDA and USDA process authority. Dr. Whiteside’s research program is focused on retort pouch technology, food product shelf life, and bio-polymer films. Presentation Title: Developments in Retort Pouches Applications
Retort pouches have been in used in shelf stable food packaging since the 1950’s and they continue to gain market share worldwide. There have been numerous modifications of the original retort pouch structure since its enception from film materials to pouch styles to pouch functionality. This presentation will highlight some the current innovative technology and applications being utilized in retort pouches and discuss future developments for this shelf stable food package.
