Paulo Sousa has an Honour’s degree in Management from FEP –
Faculdade de Economia da Universidade do Porto, and an executive MBA from the
Porto Business School.
His career took off in 1994 as an Individual Entrepreneur
distributing pet care products until 1999. In parallel, in 1998, he took on the
role of Account Manager at Banco Expresso Atlântico which belongs to the BCP
Group. In 1999, he joined ‘Efrem Portugal’ as Specialist Channel Salesman &
Area Manager, responsible for Mainland Portugal and Northern Spain. At the beginning of the millennium, between
2001 and 2002, he became Area Manager for Portugal in the Consumer Health Care
Division of the German pharmaceutical company ‘Boehringer Ingelheim’.
In May 2002, he joined Colep as a Key Account and Customer
Care Manager in the Contract Manufacturing Division. In his almost-20-year
journey within the company, Paulo Sousa has held several positions, from Sales
Director Americas, to Operations Director of the Consumer Products Division, to
Managing Director of the Packaging Division. After Colep split into two
separate entities, he took on his current position as CEO of Colep Packaging.,
in June 2023, he was elected President of Metal Packaging Europe.

Circularity
Paulo Sousa, the President of Metal Packaging Europe will
present the ambition of the European industry to innovate for a sustainable
packaging future. Rigid metal packaging represents broad range of food and
beverage cans, general line, aerosols, and specialty products. The industry is
actively developing to meet new challenges, among them climate change and net
zero goals, increased competition, new legal requirements on packaging and
product safety, changing demographics and more demanding consumers. Paulo will
elaborate on the sustainability roadmap and credentials of metal packaging
offering circular packaging solutions that are good for business and the
environment.
