He was born in lstanbul in 1966. He completed his
undergraduate studies at lstanbul Technical University, Department of
Environmental Engineering in 1987, his master's degree in 1991and his doctorate
in 1996.
He was awarded the title of Research Assistant in the ITU
Environmental Engineering Department in 1990, Assistant Professor in 1996, and
Associate Professor in 1998. He was appointed to the position of Professor in
2007.
Erdem Görgün, together with his large team within the io
Environmental Solutions R&D Ltd, which he founded at İTÜ Arı Teknokent in
2004, works on projects such as packaging waste management, deposit management
system, recycling, industrial sustainability, effects of climate change, within
the framework of University-lndustry-Public cooperation. Participated in
planning, research, and development studies on issues. He was appointed as the
coordinator of the Türkiye Deposit
Management System project
by the Turkish Environment Agency
between 2018 and
2022. He still continues to work
on the construction of a DRS system suitable far Türkiye .

Suitable for Our Country
The presentation on beverage packaging and deposit management
system will consist of five main sections. Thesesections include an

examples of deposit management systems, and the environmental and economic impact
of deposit management systems, concluding with a summary.
In the introduction section, the importance of the circular
economy and recycling will be discussed, along with the purpose and scope of
the presentation. Subsequently, the presentation will deive into beverage
packaging, its types and characteristics.
Following that, the presentation will cover topics such as
what a deposit management system is, its advantages, the functioning of the
system, and the implementation of deposit systems far beverage packaging,
accompanied by examples of
successful global practices in deposit management systems. Then, the
presentation will address the environmental and. economic impacts of deposit
management systems before concluding with
a summary of the key points.
