Hatice Uslu graduated from the Hacettepe University Food
Engineering Department in 2004 and began working as a Hygiene Supervisor in the
Antalya Airport Restaurants. She has
been employed in the public sector since 2005, under the Food Establishments
and Codex Demartment of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Her responsibilities include the preparation and EU
harmonization of national legislation on "food contact materials and
articles" and "fats and oils."
Uslu attended a
three-month training on food contact materials and articles at the Michigan
State University School of Packaging with a Ministry scholarship, where she
completed a comparative study of the EU and US legislation on food contact
materials and articles. She also
participated in EU twinning projects and took part in national and
international training events as trainer.
Uslu has further degrees in Media and Communication and
International Relations from the Anadolu University Faculty of Open
Learning. Uslu speaks English and is an
amateur photographer.
Presentation Title: Turkish Food Codex Regulation on
Substances and Materials in Contact with Food
Food contact material and article is defined in the Law On
Veterinary Services, Plant Health, Food And Feed numbered 5996 as; “any
material and article that come into or produced with the intent to come into
contact with foods”. Turkish Food Codex Regulation which is published in
accordance with this Law, establishing general rules for ensuring food safety
includes general rules for all kinds of food contact materials and articles and
specific rules for product groups (plastics, metal, etc.)
National Regulations on materials and articles that are in
contact with food is prepared by taking into account the relevant international
studies, especially the European Union legislation.
