Oya Akman

After graduating from DGSA/Mimar Sinan University Department of Industrial Design and Interior Architecture with a Master's degree, Dr. Oya Akman did her PhD at MSU Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences on "Enhanced Information Transmission / Semiotics in Industrial Design". In her 50 years of professional career, she worked as a designer in furniture, textile, ceramic, plastic and glass industries. In 2020 FEED International Patent Competition, he received the Bronze Award with his invention. With the invention of the machine used in glass production, there are many international and national design awards, including American and Turkish patents, utility models and World Star, German Design Award Special, Red Dot, Good Design, Design Plus, Design Plus Material Vision, Crescents and Stars for Packaging Competition, Design Turkey. Her designs are available in the global market under the Oya Design brand. She was and still is a faculty member at ITU (1993-2005) and Medipol University Industrial Design Departments.

Summary

Presentation Title: Innovative Approaches in Packaging Technology

 What kind of differences can be created in existing production systems with an innovative perspective in packaging technology? With good planning, process, energy, transfer and transportation economy can be analyzed in the system. In packaging production, all secondary processes can be solved by programming them in the same integrated system. I believe that the project we developed, patented in America and Türkiye, is a good example of this. Another innovative work of ours is packaging, transporting and delivering the food without losing its target heat value and placing it on the shelves sustainably in food packaging. This issue is carried out as an interdisciplinary group study with the aim of producing multiple solutions in collaboration with Gastronomy/Food Engineering and Industrial Design.
